Actually the prevailing consensus on FT seems to be that Delta "SkyPesos" are unusable as well. Not that that's been my experience, but they are definitely less valuable than say AA or UA miles (or AGR points).
Actually there were some city names that needed to be removed (Fostoria and Pensacola, for example) but they went a bit overboard with the whiteout. Any bets on whether the irrelevant cities will still be there when the map gets restored? -_-
Same here. Love trains, like planes, endure driving, hate buses. I'm getting bustituted for part of the route on my next LD train trip, and am none too happy about it.
Actually these times would duplicate the Carl Sandburg, so it might be preferable to have an earlier departure (6:00?) and later arrival (11:30?) to spread out the traffic on the CHI-GBB corridor. It still seems like a stretch for a single trainset (though I note the River Runner arrives 2:55P...
That's "reserved" in the Amtrak sense, not in the airline sense: You have a seat on that particular train/bus, but not a specific seat assignment such as 21A. As opposed to "unreserved" which means you can take any train within the validity period of the ticket.
"Self transfer" means you walk...
Yes, but even there it's not unusual to encounter an announcement that "first class is at the front of the train" (or whatever) indicating that the train is reversed from its normal direction.
SOM is, as the press release says, a well-established, solid firm. They should do a fine job with a touch of class, though perhaps not with the panache of a starchitect like Calatrava.
Essentially this would be an extension of the Dubuque Black Hawk, right, or would that be a separate option for the IL part of the route?
If so, no new stations would be needed, unless they want to add Prairie Du Chien.
The route was cut back to NYP-PIT (see this timetable). That was the initial reason for the name change.
It was re-extended to CHI about a year later (see this timetable), but without a dining car or sleepers. Since the original PRR Broadway Limited was an all-sleeper train, using the name...
As reported by the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette
Improvements to this station are long overdue. The old depot was moved and restored several years ago, with plans to use it as the Amtrak station if a new platform could be built at that location. Apparently a new building is now under...
You're right about the consist, SSLs and coaches (several of each) and engine #156. The ride departed track 2, backed through the yard and did a wye by heading west at 16th street, south across the bridge, then back through the yard and past the station on the rip track onto the north tracks (I...

Looks like your train ended up taking the MI detour. The CL did depart TOL before you arrived, but terminated in Bryan.
I found Hertz to be within reasonable walking distance; the key is to walk north, not south, when leaving the station, and use the street crossing. Still, if Enterprise will pick up and drop off at the station, that's the most convenient.
