This is assuming the current schedule with a pair of "Banks," one in each direction, for Long Distance trains... In the future I want to see, there would be more than 2 "Banks" of trains at Chicago on the LD network.

for the most part, yes, though all cars may not be aligned with the others in the consist... The odds are closer to 50/50 that you would get an ocean view through the window, though the bedrooms still have glass on the other side, for the Aisle, and the wall between the car and the aisle.

Amtrak turns the whole train at both ends, and occasionally turns a car to keep the axles wearing evenly, so it isn't really that practical to turn everything but the sleepers, then recombine the train every single run.

Looks like I misidentified the platform, but I still hold the view that the most likely announcement on a weekend will be the restoration of the NEC to full schedule, since that is the last major part of the network to be reduced in schedule, which Amtrak doesn't have to negotiate with states over.

Before eminent domain should be started, can we ask UP what their price would be to purchase it without having to go through the courts? (Being nice usually gets better results than litigation in interpersonal relationships, so business transactions should be similar.)

Something that I would love to see implemented on Amtrak trains would be to have automated Trails and Rails type content available to be streamed to devices onboard. This could be implemented using an onboard server that triggers the playback on the devices that choose to connect to the network...

That is correct mathematically. I've worked out train lengths and car counts for this type of replacement. If anyone wants to take a look, I'd be happy to supply a link in PM's.

CAF is likely to never see another penny from Amtrak, especially since the order for 130 cars has taken 9 years to get to this level of completion. It is much more likely that Siemens will be receiving another order for LD cars, after negotiations are complete for the Amfleet 1 Replacement...

"If they just pay attention" See all the threads about collisions with vehicles? Do you think the general public actually pays any attention to stuff outside their own lives? Even a time change can sneak up on a person very easily...
