For some, one of the attractions of train travel is viewing the scenery along the way. If that viewing is done from a sleeper occupied by two people, legroom between seats close to the window(s) and width of those windows could be important, as shown below.

That just shows to go you it pays to sniff around. The only cheaper Bedroom fare for two seniors is $1233 and the very highest is <gulp> $3620!!!! Good work! :) FWIW, Roomettes are currently at low bucket of $588 for one adult on 18 Oct. Yay!

So if the start date for service in Jan 2024, there's 3 to 4 months to create some sort of a station in that parking lot. With all the ADA requirements my guess is that a Jan 2024 start date is a pipe dream unless an Amshack is all that's actually needed.

Now I'm all confusified as to its location. If by the ". . .old station. . ." do you mean the GM&O Station (now the Wave Transportation System and ¾ mile NW from the convention center)? Or was there another old station in the location shown by Palmland?

By ". . .right nest to. . ." do you mean where the tracks go through the West side of the convention center?

There doesn't seem to be room for too much more than an AmShack across the street from the DeSoto Public Library. The grassy area shown below is a bit less than 35' wide. The third track on the right is a lead-in to the UP yard. Hmmm-m-m-m. . . .

Most certainly, but the best way to find out about sun kink problems. . . is Google "railroad sunk kinks" or "railroad heat kinks". It's quite an involved process for CWR (continuosuly welded rail). It wan't too much of a problem for older segmented "klickety-klack" rail.

Thanks for that information. Makes booking this route a lot easier. And CHI to TPA using the Cardinal is also bookable but includes the addition of a second bus ride from Orlando to Tampa (about two hours).
