    Random question

Not Acela; the Acela cafe's don't have seats, IIRC. I've never been in a PPC, but it doesn't look like any of the PPC photos I found online via a quick search--all the ones I saw were dome cars.

    Random question

What is the car in the photo on p. 112 of the Fall 2009/Winter 2010 Amtrak System Timetable? Or, better stated, what I am wondering is, which train is it? Is it out west somewhere? In any case, it's a lot nicer looking than the cafe cars on the Pennsylvanian or the Northeast Regional or the...

New Excited Rider with Lots of Questions

My wife and some of my kids often get carsick, but they have never had a problem on the train. You should definitely eat in the dining car; it's one of the most enjoyable parts of the whole experience. Social interaction: generally, people are far more sociable on the train, much more in the...

    Williamsburg VA via Amtrak

The Williamsburg Woodlands is less than a mile from the station. It is one of the hotels owned by Colonial Williamsburg. When we have gone there we have just taken a taxi to the hotel. The last time we were there, when we checked out, they offered us complimentary van service to the station...

what happened tp the Empire builder

Even funnier is to think that you can do just about the same thing in San Antonio on the Texas Eagle when there is not a delay.

Wouldn't a hair dryer need to have an unusually low wattage to be usable on the train?

    size of lockers at Harrisburg

I have never been in the station, but I read somewhere online (I forget where) that there are lockers downstairs, in the area that is apparently the bus station.

    size of lockers at Harrisburg

Thanks, that's even better. I had not heard about a staffed baggage area.

    size of lockers at Harrisburg

Does anyone know how big the storage lockers are at the Harrisburg station? Are they big enough to fit a standard small suitcase with wheels?

    a few dumb questions from a newbie - Denver-NJ

However, the Superliner coach cars (like the one you will catch in Denver) often have a dressing room downstairs, attached to one of the restrooms, which may be useful if you want to wash up & change clothes (it just gives you more space).

Please tell me all about the Capitol Ltd from Chicago to Washington

Tracy, You will enjoy riding on the Capitol Limited. The scenery along the Youghiogheny River (starting shortly after Pittsburgh) and later the Potomac (especially near Harpers Ferry) is quite beautiful, and April will be a nice time of year for it. As someone suggested above, if your...
