When you check in they assign the coach seating. There has never been a problem getting a seat together. When you get on the train look around after all the passengers have boarded for an empty seat. You want your own seat to sleep at night more room to stretch out.

I did a dummy booking for March 8, 2025 Sanford to Lorton and it applied to that date. Waiting for Black Friday Sale to do the actual booking,

I noticed the today that the seniors discount of 10% now applies to the Auto Train. Not sure if it is temporary or a new permanent thing.

Have you previously booked at a higher price. If you did call Amtrak Customer Service and they will adjust the price and give you and e-credit. In November on Black Friday the price will be even lower when they have their annual sale.

The last time we were in Sanford, we went exploring and was shocked how big it is and what they have to offer. Before thought it Auto Train was the big deal in town and nothing more to offer. Lots of shopping and places to eat.

I have never seen any food trucks at Lorton Station. As stated above the gift shop has snacks, but very expensive. We always go to the plaza across the road and pickup dinner at the Amazon Store before we go into the station. You can get sandwiches, snacks, pop and they have a small buffet...
