Another tip is to check price for 1 person versus your group. I did that and got the last seat at the lower price bucket. Had to call Amtrak to add the 2nd person as you cannot book a trip yourself without a automobile.

That is exactly correct. I want to see if it is cheaper to buy points at 30% off sale. I remember they had charts in the past you could check.

I have done that, because I do not have enough points, it asks me to sign into my account and offers to sell me points, I want to know how much the vehicle costs using points.

Where can I find out how many points are required to take Auto Train. I do not have enough and need to buy points but when making a reservation it does not allow me to continue without buying points.

I would call the number the station at (703) 690-7023 and confirm. I would not want the grand kids to be disappointed.

In coach previously you had a diner car and had both sit down dinner and breakfast. You were not treated like you were on a picnic for there grab and go breakfast. There was coffee, tea, and hot chocolate available day or night. We are people who do not expect much, but feel the change is not...

53 from SFA has left 1 hour and 50 minutes late according to Amtrak's twitter account. That is not too much time to make up.

I hope they catch up by Wednesday. I leave on Thursday from Lorton.
