Just found a bucket score for anyone who is planning to ride the LSL anytime in the near future. Found new low roomette and bedroom fares for many dates in late 2024-early 2025, that are significantly lower than what was identified as the lowest on @niemi24s's chart.

That’s funny they kept Alexandria as a drop off only stop going north. Someone at Amtrak must have forgot to change that when making this new train.

Looks like the Silver Meteor departure time on the NEC is getting moved up 45 minutes (NYC time is 3:15 —> 2:30) the same day that the Floridian service starts. The stop times after Washington on 97 appear to be the same, though.

It’s a very common practice on the starlight. They have dropped off supplies for the cafe (and sometimes the dining car) at Oakland on every trip I have rode in recent years. I usually ride northbound, but have take a few southbound as well

That's interesting to hear that they took your dinner reservation in the lounge in Chicago before even boarding. That's the first I've heard of that on Amtrak.

Note that you do not need to call to claim a price adjustment. It can easily be done on the app by ‘modifying’ onto the same train you are currently booked for. Obviously, if you are booked in a Roomette you’ll be assigned a different room, so you won’t be able to select which one you want.

When the fare drops you are ‘changing’ your reservation to the lower fare. Changes have no fee associated with them, and you only ‘pay’ the fare difference. Since the difference is a negative value, you’d get a refund for the difference. I did this just last week on a reservation for later this...

On the website you need to select the 'add coupon' button, enter and select the coupon before doing the search. If done correctly, the price for two will show up as the price for one.

The IIs now have extremely bright LED lights as well. In the transdorm near crew rooms, I’ve noticed that some crews will go as far as taping over the lights near their rooms. I don’t know why they can’t put the lights on the sleepers in ‘night mode’ like they can do in the coaches.
