    AMTRAK and Real IDs

I guess I am unique here in that I don't fly. So, having a Real ID is of little-to-no use to me. I have a passport, and if I need to do something that requires me to show-my-papers (as I was taught, when young, is always required in evil totalitarian communist countries), I will simple use it.

Why I'll Never Ride Amtrak Again

Before passing judgment, I would sure like to hear the other side of this story. I am left wondering if since @NeverAgain appears to have started their trek to the train walking amongst the Coach passengers, if he/she was tagged by all the Amtrak employees there, as an arrogant Coach passenger...

How Busy is the Silver Star 92 overnight?

Not even a parent traveling with a young child, can expect to be seated together in coach. However, having said that, I would suggest you both be ready to grab two aisle seats, directly across from each other. Yea, you will have the aisle between you, but you can still talk to each other.

    Don't snap towels at conductors

If I saw the conductor walking bare butt down the hall (to/from the showers?), I reserve my right to snap a towel at him/it. College dorm rules apply.

New dining options (flex dining) effective October 1, 2019

Then Amtrak trains would be strictly prohibited from running on Sundays.

Even with a sign, I can see the trays that have been dumped into the garbage.

The Auto Train with a new car

Since such things bother you so intensely, possibly you should have delayed your most expensive purchase, until after your trip? The reality is, that some where, some time, some thing is going to happen to this car. It could be while you are driving it, or someone else.

Gay male friend wants to become a conductor, BUT...

Find better people to hang out with, at work. Clearly, they were simply trying to get you into a panic. And you fell for it, hook, line, and sinker.

"More than one in four Amtrak trains are late" says the Business Traveller

What's your definition of "on time"? A Crescent arrived within 24 hours of its scheduled time?

"More than one in four Amtrak trains are late" says the Business Traveller

I remember a few years ago, Amtrak had a little "chat" with the owners of the tracks long the east coast (CSX?). After that, the Silvers started to run at, or ahead, of schedule. However, that only lasted like 6 months, and then on-time performance went back to the way it use to be.

Questions about domestic in-transit luggage inspection.

I have never had, to my knowledge, my luggage searched on Amtrak, nor have had sniffing dogs walked down the isle in my sleeper car. I am not sure if I would object, but I am a grown adult, and understand there are always potential consequences for doing this.

    Share a Coke with...Amtrak

Just to note that 7up/DrPepper markets their root beer under both the A&W and the Hires brand names, as well as the Stewart's and IBC brand names too. ;)

    NYP Acela lounge experience

No, you need to thank Henry Ford, and the Ford Motor Company. It was his (at the time) non-union work force that first saw many of those improvements. And the good ideas spread from there.

How come the vote choices don't include... 7up/Dr Pepper (includes A&W, Canada Dry, Crush, Snapple,YooHoo, etc) Don't really care, I can make due with Coke or Pepsi for a single meal Don't like any soft drinks

Petition to Keep Dining Cars Now Approaching 50,000 signatures

Just how do they define effective? How many of these partitions actually achieve their stated goal? What's their success rate? With 50K signatures, how likely they will be able to force Amtrak to capitulate?

    NYP Acela lounge experience

From my experiences over the years, the attendant(s) in Phiily seem to take great pride in keeping the snack area well stocked. I find it actually kind-of humorous that if I take a cinnamon bun or bag of chips (which depends on the time of day), within a few minutes the attendant will...

Why trains instead of planes for long distance?

That is exactly the point. Wasn't it that the TWA flight continued to fly, for what, 20 more minutes after the gas tank explosion blew the cockpit off the front of the plane? The loss of the cockpit changed the center of gravity, causing the paint to tilt up, and actually gain altitude for a...

New dining options (flex dining) effective October 1, 2019

As I mentioned numerous times, who do publically traded cruise lines do it? What accounting magic do they employ, to divvy up cabin fares paid by passengers, to show their stockholders (their equivalent to Congress for Amtrak) a profitable revenue stream for their "free/included" Main Dining Room?

Silver Star will room attendant get your food

How would a passenger pay? I understand having a meal from the Dining Car delivered. There is no money involved for a sleeper passenger other than the tip. On the Star-vation, how would the Café work? You hand the SCA your credit card or a wad of cash, and the SCA hands it to the Café car...

"Exciting" new contest re Food Delivery (to sleeper passengers) Design

I know Amtrak hates the airlines, but how about simply borrow their idea? Pre-load an airline style of chart? The LSA will being a cart to each sleeper, and the SCA will simply go down the isle and drop off a meal or two at each room. Of course, those who choose rooms on the lower level of...
