I don't think current Amtrak management gives a crap about "see level". If they go bilevel it's because of capacity per car IMO.

They should have just ordered some super fancy versions of the current order for the regional trains, go all out for a premium trim for the Acela type service. Upscale interiors and cafe cars etc. These Acela cars are a joke, billions of dollars to arrive 15 minutes quicker.

Both NJT and the LIRR are commuter rail lines. I really don't thinks there's a massive need to have them run from LI into NJ and vice versa. Especially since they both end at the same station NYP. It's not that hard to switch trains there. Same goes for Metro North which is soon to run some...

I've done all the current long distance trains endpoint to endpoint except the Cardinal. Also rode the Sunset from Miami, the Broadway Limited and the Montrealer before they were discontinued.

That's simply a skylight over what once was the cab driveway between the office building and MSG. The station itself would still be under MSG and in the dark except for what light would trickle in from the "breezeway" lol. And for that mess the cost was to be something like seven billion dollars.
