I have been on many late trains. Equipment issues with Amtrak caused many of the delays which snowballed into freight delays because of the lost travel window. On the other hand the Northeast Corridor trains run pretty much on time and there is little to no freight traffic on that line.

Just curious because I always want to take Amtrak to Winslow and then drive to the petrified forest and the grand canyon. Did you rent a car in Winslow or was there other means of transportation?

I like the route ending in Naples Florida. Not sure that is possible today. Rail now ends in North Naples and everything south has been developed.

The author of the article said she would do the trip again. Amtrak is very expensive for the service provided. I think all travel articles should include the price. I have spoken to many people recently who have thought about train travel but have balked because of the price.
