You can load whatever will fit safely. I don't know how anything can be stolen, especially larger items, when the cars are loaded out in the open....

They tend to hire Conductors several times a year, whenever they have enough need to run a class. They hire many people off the street for these positions especially off the NE Corridor locations.

Very possibly a wye was out of service, or a shortage of yard crews. The seats in the Amfleet 1 coaches are a real PAIN to turn...so they probably just chose to ignore them....

Let me add, if you have no Railroad experience, You are going to be learning a LOT of information. You will be training at an Amtrak facility in Wilmington. The first several weeks will be mainly classroom training. You will be housed in a local motel in Wilmington and transported back and forth...
