    New Amtrak survey email yesterday

Got it twice and answered it twice. The questions are very odd. I did ask for bonus TQP points for sleeper travel both times !

New Amtrak Proposed Routes Map has Dropped

Not impressed. Mostly a bunch of state-supported corridor trains. There is no restoration of long-distance trains like the Desert Wind or Pioneer. No daily Cardinal or Sunset. No Crescent extension to Dallas. And would it really be that hard to connect Louisville and Nashville, or Pueblo and La...

Do we need "Long Distance " trains?

The United States is a very large country. Trains already take too long for most people, even without stopping overnight. Even in Europe, which has fast trains, overnight trains are making a bit of a comeback and the food looks better than what Amtrak is now serving.

Why does the Sunset Limited stop in Ontario instead of somewhere farther east in the Inland Empire?

Riverside is perfectly located to serve the Inland Empire. Ontario not so much.

Why does the Sunset Limited stop in Ontario instead of somewhere farther east in the Inland Empire?

Good question. I don't know the answer, but it is likely for "historical" reasons. The stations at Pomona and North Palm Springs aren't much better. Amtrak Advertising

Has anyone noticed the new Amtrak ads on Radio and TV ? There are new ads running on local radio and YouTube here in the Los Angeles market. One in particular pomotes private accomodations and complemntary "meals" on long ditance trains. The other promotes Amtrak as a clean in safe travel...

    Incident in La Plata

In California, Rad would likely have been cited and released. He may be surprised if things are different in Missouri ;-)

    Amtrak Service Reductions

Looking back at the last fifty years, I am skeptical. Amtrak is not a priority, especially now given all of the other "priorities"

    Amtrak Service Reductions

Three days a week, or even once a week, is fine for "experiential" trains ;-)

    Amtrak Service Reductions

Very low on the priority list ...

Glenwood Springs hotels near Amtrak station?

I stayed at the Hotel Denver a few years back. Both the hotel and pub/restaurant were good. I would definitely stay there again. Very convenient.
