One item that is fading away, along with ticket, is the puncher. Each puncher is unique- shape of "head" and location of punch or punches on ticket. And those clicking noise.

I've done several times using city bus number 50. It doesn't have luggage rack but the passenger load is light. Fare is $1. Also it has dedicated express bus for "RailRunner riders" and the fare is free. You'll need to check ABQ metro website since I'm on vacation.

If it's late, sometimes the Amtrak bus at San Bernardino station will be waiting for you and bussed to Bakersfield and catch San Joaquin train to the Bay area. Not a pretty option!

Pacific Surfliner has more stops than CS on a same route. However, it does give you a "chalk one" on different kind of car- California cars.
