    Ski and use the train

My wife and I have done this trip, or parts of it, multiple times: Denver to Winter Park by California Zephyr or Winter Park Express . Ski a few days at Winter Park. Winter Park to Salt Lake City by the California Zephyr . Coach is adequate. The train crosses the Rockies and Wasatch Mountains...

An interesting item on slow train travel in Europe.

I highly recommend riding the narrow gauge railways in the Harz Mountains of the former DDR. These communities were largely untouched in WWII and have lovely fachwerk (half timbered) buildings. Wernigerode is absolutely charming. For more info go to How to visit the Harz Railway | Times...

    Question about cross-country train trip

Perhaps you should consider getting a drivers license in the future. Although rail travel is wonderful, there are just some places that need a motor vehicle, particularly in USA, Canada, Australia, et al.

    Maine to Mexico

Re ears: airlines pressurize cabins to 5,000 ft. of altitude. The only difference between this and driving to 5,00 ft. is the speed in which the change takes.

I second St. Elmo Steak House as the place to go in Indianapolis. Historic & stately wining & dining destination known for its steaks & seafood, plus cocktail lounge.

    Most luxurious Amtrak train ever?

We took this in about 1989. A sleeper with a steak and wine dinner was about $25. The dining car was some Swiss design. The sleepers were totally renovated. USA rolling stock. Our whole trip was Nuevo Laredo-Mexico City-Guadalajara-Topolobampo-Chihuahua-Juarez.

Efficacy of Private vs. Public Sector Construction Projects

There is a lot of pro private sector propaganda in these. I worked for a Fortune 500 company that no longer exists due to the incompetency of its Wharton educated Chairman/President. He once stated to me he would have been richer than Trump had he been funded by his father as Trump had been.

    Trouble phoning Amtrak from UK

+1-215-856-7924 will contact AMTRAK from anywhere in the world with phone service. Depending on your phone you may need to insert your international access prefix. Most of the commentary on phoning in this series of responses is by Americans who know zippo about making international phone calls.

Business class on the Illini/Saluki is a ripoff

Business Class should be universally 2 plus 1 seating. Further to that, passengers wishing to use a mobile phone should move to the vestibule like in Japan.

Afraid To Travel On Silver Star: Advice For Traveler Anxiety

The AMTRAK train stuck for 36 hours was most likely associated with a huge snowstorm which is extremely unlikely on your route. Have a great trip.
