I know that in Chicago, if you don't pick up your bag for several hours (to sight-see or whatever), they have a phone in the baggage claim area that you can use. You call down with the claim number and description of the bag and someone will bring it up to you. Most stations probably do things...

On our last trip, we sent a bag home from Oceanside, CA to Cleveland. We took the CS to the CZ, the bag took the SWC, getting there a day earlier than we did. It was there waiting for us when we got home, no problem. I think they will store your bag for up to three days until they start charging...

At Cleveland, no, you don't need to ask. There are 50-60 parking spots. It's usually pretty full, but there will be some spots available. They also lock it up during the day (when the station is closed), so it is relatively safe.

It was about two weeks ago.

When we went through, they had a list at the desk with a certain amount of slots for each time. We got the last two slots for the first seating, about 90 minutes before departure, so I assume it is first come, first served.

During our recent trip on three trains, all three made you go through the Sleeping Car Attendant to get meals in your room. They would not let you order to-go directly from the dining car.

When we came back home a few weeks ago on the Cap, CHI-CLE, they were definitely slow. The crew seemed nice enough, though. We went to the first seating and they loaded up half of the dining car. Then when they called for the next seating, our waiter went to work the other half of the car...

For our trip a few weeks back, it took about 7 days for some segments to post, some a little quicker. They should be posting within a few days, hopefully.

We just took the SWC out of Chicago a few weeks ago. It is scheduled to leave at 3 PM, but about 30-45 minutes before that they will call for boarding. An attendant or the conductor will be at the back door of the lounge and everyone just lines up and follows him/her out to the train.

I just double-checked. The promotion started the 18th, and our first paid section was the 15th (we went most of the way on points). So that part wasn't eligible anyway. We got the bonus on all of the other paid segments. But that is good to know for the future.

For our 15th Anniversary, we embarked on another cross-country trip. We decided to go to the Grand Canyon and the wife wanted to go back to California to a beach. Perfect, I thought. We rode the Califonia Zephyr and the Empire Builder last trip, we can ride the Southwest Chief and the Coast...

Can you only order form the PPC menu when in the PPC, or can you order form the regular dining car menu as well?

Only 1560 for me this year. Just round trips CLE-WAS and CLE-CHI. Hoping to get out to the west coast next year, though.
