Are they running a Sightseer Lounge again on the Cap yet? Last I heard they weren’t, but wondering if that’s slated to change anytime soon. I’ve got a trip on it next March, and having a proper SSL would be wonderful.

Interesting how they weren't actually all that old—30 to 40 years. The AEM-7s were running when they were 36 years old, on par with the GG-1s. Some of the passenger cars were even older. The Heritage Dining Car (#8504) that I rode in back in 2016 was 68 years old at the time I rode it.

I prefer the closet on the Superliner Is—it's useful for hanging shirts, etc. to de-wrinkle while you're en route. I roll-pack my pajamas and put them on the top shelf—the Superliner II has tiny cubbies for towels, which I don't find to be as useful as the shelf in the closet. Down at the bottom...

I boarded from San Diego on 6/13 to the Surfliner, and it wasn't by zones. There was a business class line, and an unreserved coach line.

I was on the Cardinal this week, and the train was completely sold out—sleepers and coaches. We only had two coaches in the consist.

Hi all, happy to report that the coffee station is back. I rode #29 and #3 this week, and it was available on both legs starting at 6 AM, or a little before. It was nice and strong. I was not disappointed!

We always do the same—order a carafe of coffee for room service. It's hot, it's much better than the in-room coffee, and no balancing act on a windy, slippery deck. Thanks to everyone that replied. I'm glad I'll have some options coming up for my land cruise (Amtrak), and will report back here...
