Wish List for Amtrak/Train Service Expansions

Well if we are talking Denver, I had the thought of making it a hub for a couple of routes; Denver-Dallas(or Ft Worth), Denver-Seattle (via SLC & Boise), Denver-Los Angeles (via SLC & Las Vegas), and possibly a second Denver-Chicago train (on a different schedule). I suppose Denver-Albuquerque...

    92(9) vs Pickup Truck.

I would suspect (in my pure speculation) that Amtrak, and other railroads for that matter, may make a claim with a person's insurance and even take legal action, if necessary, against the driver's insurance company. However I doubt they would take any action against an individual barring highly...

Siemens Caltrans/IDOT Venture design, engineering, testing and delivery (2012-1Q 2024)

Nothing new in the written portion of this article in IRJ. http://www.railjournal.com/index.php/north-america/siemens-in-nippon-sharyo-out-for-multi-state-coach-order.html?channel=535 But check out the rendition of an apparent cab car that looks like they grafted a Charger cab onto a coach....

Siemens Caltrans/IDOT Venture design, engineering, testing and delivery (2012-1Q 2024)

No one has yet mentioned that California is getting an additional 7 cars while the Midwest States are only receiving the original base number. I am wondering if the Midwest States might have got something else in this revised deal... maybe Sumitomo is (at least partially) on the hook for station...

    Acela II RFP information announcement

I doubt it. Remember when they released the video below, it was that speculated that they where going to drop the Acela name. Speaking of the video, the livery on the new drawings and models appear to be simplified. The shape of the trainset, in particular the power cars, seem a bit more defined.

    Amtrak "Ready to Build" Campaign

Amtrak has unveiled its "Ready to Build Campaign" this morning. Press release here. Ready to Build web page. Other than the inclusion of Chicago Union Station, all the projects are in the Northeast Corridor. While I cannot say how effect the campaign might be, it is good to see them publicly...

    Trains from BWI

Last time I was at BWI the Amtrak/MARC shuttles where run just like the various parking lot shuttles, probably one every 5 or 10 minutes. Just claim your bags, walk out, and look for the stops (there are several there) and then get on the correct shuttle bus.

    Michigan Central Station

No worries. I couldn't remember if there was a different VIA or Amtrak train that was routed through the tunnel between Detroit and Windsor.

    Michigan Central Station

No, if you are referring to The International. That train used the rail tunnel between Port Huron, MI and Sarnia, ON.

http://www.crainsdetroit.com/article/20170911/news/638681/morouns-vision-for-detroit-depot-trains I stumbled across this article on the Michigan Central station while looking for something else.

    Work at New York Penn

I wondered about that detail myself. I do not think what they did was anything new however, and I am sure they know how to replace those ties without disturbing the concrete if it becomes necessary. I thought they might have used a direct connection between the rail and the concrete the way it...

    Amtrak Siemens Charger locomotive (SC44, ALC42, ALC42E) (2015 - 1Q 2024)

Is the current breakdown on numbers from this order still 32 for the Midwest, 6 for California, 8 for Washington, and 8 for MARC? Or did I miss some more options that where picked up?

According to the latest 305 meeting notes, Washington had not finalized their agreement with Amtrak.

    Amtrak Siemens Charger locomotive (SC44, ALC42, ALC42E) (2015 - 1Q 2024)

A couple of bits from the latest AASHTO 305 board meeting on the Chargers. It was released on the day of the battery incident, but earlier in the day. 1. The Wi-tronix system appeared to be the reason that held up the Chargers from being lead units. They estimate that will take only a week or...

    Amtrak Siemens Charger locomotive (SC44, ALC42, ALC42E) (2015 - 1Q 2024)

I have to agree that it looks good. I have only two very minor things that I am not sure about; it seems busy on the nose with both the name and emblem and the transition of the stripes (and blue dots) at the back end.
