    Thanks for everyone's input on hotels in Burbank. On my next trip I am looking at getting off the Starlight at San Jose and need a hotel that is in the middle of the price range.

    Another reason is due to the extreme heat when the host RR lowers the max speed limit to avoid damages from sun kinks.

    Room 5 is one of the best in the car . It is close the upstairs bathroom and has less noise then either end of the car.

    I called this trip in to the Amtrak rewards phone number to do my reservation. Would that effect the connection?

    If you do a reservation with rewards point and have a connection, is it a Guaranteed connection? I have a trip upcoming with a connection from the Chief to the River Runner.

    When doing a booking with points what is the difference between the two amount of points on the top of each section of travel? I have been traveling for fiveteen years collecting points  Looking at taken a trip to St Louis and Chicago next month. Any info and help would be helpful.

    They are in the rooms. These trains use Viewliners. The toilets are like RV style and have a cover.

    Veggie burgers?

    On my last trip about a year ago the orders from the table from us got mixed up and I got to try one. I though it was going to be no good, but finishing most of it I enjoyed it. My fellow traveler did not like it at all. The waiter fixed our order and got us angus burgers.

    Guaranteed Connection between Texas Eagle and Heartland Flyer?

    On one trip the HF was late enough getting in FTW to not make the connection to the Eagle. The passengers going south were taken all the way to Temple to catch the Eagle. Me and a few other passengers were taken off the HF at Gainesville and taken by taxi to Dallas to make the northbound connection.

    Several stations on that list have either a train three times a week or have daily service in the early morning/late evening.

    Another reason is the SD train are much shorter. The crew of the Heartland Flyer call it a racecar.

    Back to the Emporia Kansas topic after the station closed in 1996, it was destroyed by fire in 1999.
