    AAPRCO in Chicago

Private varnish is, regularly, seen at Union Station. It is RARE to see it at LaSalle, as us currently their layover through tonight.

AGR Credit Card change (October 2022)

So, might we expect to see a notice on this month's statement that there will be no more points after the monthly cycle just ended? I'd appreciate a month's warning to plan for purchases with or without the card. I might even prepurchase some things to add a few extra points while I can.

AGR Credit Card change (October 2022)

Still, it seems an important moment to know that the relationship is continuing "for the time being", as an assumption of anything after September was the best information we've had to adjudge and decision make up until now. Considering no one has been notified of changes 30 days out, and at...

Getting on an Amtrak bus without ticket

I witnessed this on a bus I rode in 2013. Passenger needed to get to San Francisco, for a job, later that night. Arrived at L.A. Union Station after they cut off ticket sales, but before the bus left. Station manager sorted it out so she could board the bus to Bakersfield and purchase her...

    Proposed Kenosha-Racine-Milwaukee Commuter Rail

Alas, the other article (a Milwaukee radio report) I posted suggests this is D.O.A. due to disinterest from the WI state legislature. I've heard it put well in the past that this would be the "local" route and Amtrak the express between Chicago and Milwaukee.

Hammond in Whiting is the station staffed

Considering that the Hammond South Shore station alreasy has significant ridership, using it for Amtrak seems likely to attract attention of people who probably don't even know Amtrak already passes through the area.

New Amtrak cafe car menus (Aug 2022)

Yeah, I think what I have in mind is something more than "regional specialties." I'm not talking Chicago style dogs. (Though, there's nothing wrong with that...or Italian Beef, or Eli's Cheesecake, or something Vegan from, say, Chicago Diner..and, it COULD be done, practically, fresh, and...

New Amtrak cafe car menus (Aug 2022)

All the more so, considering what a food centric city Chicago is, with the commissary being there for so many train routes. Maybe they should just hire Rick Bayless to run Amtrak's food service? https://www.washingtonpost.com/travel/2022/08/15/best-restaurant-ohare-tortas-frontera/ If anyone...

Hammond in Whiting is the station staffed

Additionally, Amtrak cut services at most non major city stations (including extremely busy suburban ones, like Glenview) a few years ago to save costs. Sadly, unstaffed stations are now more the norm than an outlier.

Need bus advice if freights strike: between Normal and Chicago; also Boston to Philly

Realistically, if there's a RR strike, doesn't the federal government step in and keep discussions going to prevent entire shutdown of the supply chain? Or has that already occurred?
