Thanks for keeping this going during the transition. I'm leaving Saturday on Zephyr from Sacramento and hope to use your website which has always been helpful in the past. Thanks again.
Has anyone tried the Amtraker app?
I will travel CZ in the beginning of June 2023. Are there parts of the railbed that are at risk of flooding from extreme snowpack this year?
I took Coast Starlight 2 years ago when fire wiped out a bridge and my trip. Just want to know if it might happen again. I mean that my trip may be...
That's a good idea I didn't think of. Buy CS PDX to Emeryville and CZ start at Emeryville. If late bail at SAC, DAV, or MTZ (the last if I want breakfast) to catch the CZ. The roomette prices are almost exactly the same going and coming at those three overlapping stations.
What is the percentage of making the transition from PDX to Davis at 7:54 and leaving on CZ from Davis departing at 10:36? That 2 1/2 hour difference is one I would take at 70%. The SAC connection misses CS breakfast and you have a 5 hr layover in SAC that doesn't have a lounge.
Well, one good thing if I did miss the guaranteed train and they put me up. I would have the day to visit the California Train Museum which is near Amtrak. Does anyone have comments about the musuem?
I'm looking to go from PDX to CHI via CS and CZ in roomette end of October. What happens If I miss because of CS being late? What are the chances Amtrak would transfer my CZ reservation to the next day? Would I be subject to the change in price when changes made in the itinerary? I assume it...
The great ocean views go as far South as Oxnard. That's where the eponymous Eagles Ventura Highway song is referencing. A deep, calming experience. the ghost like Catalina islands add mystery to the view.

Leaving on a track train.
Don't know when I'll be back again.
I'm on CS finally after sweating out rail strike. Last year I was stopped at Klamath Falls when wildfire threatened trestle and had to turn around. Hope to make it all the way this trip.
For curiosity sake, does anyone know of a prediction, Vagas like website with odds on a rail strike? I'd like to see how prediction compares with reality. Something like a 538.com aggregation of opinion. I can't find anything on Google search.
I'm waiting for a return call to change reservation due to the impending strike. It said it would be 30 minutes. It's been 2 hours. Should I try calling again or would that make phone wait worse? Is the phone line down due to being swamped is what I'm trying to find out also? I have a 40% off...
Looks like Alliance Policy I got with Amtrak reservation covers union strike for trip interruption. But I bet there is a gotcha in there somewhere.
