That sort of thing killed an Alstom engineer on an NJT train on their D-LRT Riverline a few weeks ago.
If the Talgo was damaged, they are going to have an equipment crisis for a while. They are now running all the Horizons they have with no back up.
There is a small 3-track yard west of the platforms that Empire trains use that they can back into for short while to get out of the way. Sometimes NJT uses them.
They don't have to pump the toilets or in any way service the train for a one way 140-mile trip down from Rensselaer. That's how...
Yes to turning trains in Sunnyside.
Cab cars lack 3rd rail shoes and cannot lead 3rd rail powered trains into Penn Staion as the rear loco may stop on a gap.
There are only 18 P42DMs.
Ivy City always had several Superliners scattered about as spares, a 37000-series diner was always parked on a track near the NEC for all to see. I presume they found their way back to Chicago too ?
I heard that a Floridian on Wednesday ran from Cumberland to Richmond with no functioning toilets. It seems Chicago forget to pump them during layover.
What is RMR equipment doing this time of year ? Could any of their cars in the US or Canada configured as coaches and some sort of snack service be leased for this ?
I don't see any reason why an Amtrak train from Albany, topped-and-tailed, can't terminate there. There is nothing to service. There are siding tracks in the vicinity where they can park it for a few hours. But when you have an Amtrak and a DOT conspiring to throw their hands up in the air, here...
They did extend and pretty sure they did both platforms. CDTA originally ran out of funds, kept platforms short, and omitted one track. That has all been fixed.
DOT has to pay for a 6th and 7th car, which incurs a 3rd conductor. Don't hold your breath. I think they were very happy to have the...
Peak load point of the Lexington subway is 59th-42nd Street. Penn Station expansion is required for increased terminal capacity. There is none of that available at either Grand Central Terminal nor Grand Central Madison. Those favoring a GCT-NYP link for 25 years have gotten zero traction...
The rightful place of this article is an English composition in Junior High School, showing about as much competency, but actually written by some NIMBY's trying to save Block 780 in a blighted area (there's plenty of vacant office space and store fronts within blocks to re-accommodate), so they...
You must be younger than most of us. I rode them 1978 - 1982 on the Pioneer, Cardinal, and Montrealer. They were fine, not much different than an Amfleet-2. At least the Amfleet-1 had a little dressing room. On the Amfleet-2, you have to use the ADA toilet. Two of the LD Amfleet-1 had a couple...
Doesn't Amtrak in navigating into its own center tracks in DUS, cross under RTD's catenary in the process ?
What becomes of RMR equipment during Ski train season ? Does it operate ?
Yes they were, on the Montrealer, Cardinal, Shenandoah, City of New of New Orleans, Spirit of California, North Star, Desert Wind, and Pioneer.
All LD cars have leg rests. Business class cars have curtains and have 60 seats, similar to an Amfleet-2.
Amfleet-2, typically 5 - 7 years newer than Amfleet-1, have more mileage on them. Keep that in mind. It might be wise to convert some Amfleet-1, such as the business class ones, back to long distance, which they once were, only thing missing now is leg rest.
