Hello! I did do it, I’m been meaning to post about it with pictures but life keeps getting in the way sadly. There was snow, not too much but still enough for it to be beautiful, and fortunately no holdups 🙂 I will try to write a post about it soon!

I’m sorry to hear there’s no sightseer lounge.. that’s one of the main reasons for taking any of the long distance routes for me. I am glad you bounce around tho since the person on the other side didn’t show up 🙂

Does this mean that the California Zephyr that departed from Chicago will terminate in Reno instead of Emeryville? Edit: I just realized the post above was from Monday.. nevertheless still curious if the westbound California Zephyr terminated early?

So does this mean that windows on the California Zephyr do not get cleaned nowadays? How easy/hard is it to see clearly through the windows?

I don’t have much to add to the conversation, for although I’ve taken the CZ before (and loved it), I haven’t been on the SWC yet, so can’t compare the two. I did want to say though that I love your positive and upbeat attitude! How regardless of which train you ended up taking, you’re sure...

I hope it is a short-term issue. It must be terribly disappointing to take a long-distance route and not have a Sightseer!

What? That has been happening? The sightseeing lounge is perhaps the biggest appeal for some folks (me included)!

Ah I see. I didn't know that. The last time I took the CZ the sleeper and diner cars were at the beginning of the train, and I guess I just assumed that was always the case. Thank you for sharing this!
