I took a two night trip Houston to Utica, I was happy to take a shower with a 7 hour layover. The woman at the door was pretty gruff, especially to someone who never rode trains before.

When I rode coach from Longview to Chicago I was assigned a seat, the train was pretty full. Luckily my seatmate who was on before me was a nice enough fellow. He had the window seat.

Last year my first trip HOU to UTI I paid $166 for one way senior coach. Same trip this year is $269, I think I'd rather fly.

Yes I got one after my trip to Utica NY.

Not the first one in the area, I lived near there over 20 years ago. In fact my Amtrak trip this past summer Amsterdam was my destination.

I used the cafe on two occasions as I was traveling coach. One morning the female attendant was very helpful as the credit card scanner wasn't working correctly. She was patient and friendly. Next morning I wasn't even greated by male attendant, "want your bagel heated". Told him no, I didn't...

One thing I noticed traveling from Longview to Chicago was hearing the horn, a lot of road crossings. Then from Chicago to Utica NY, didn't notice the horn so much. Both trips were through the night.

Adventure starts Monday, first leg Houston to Longview on a bus. Then to Chicago overnight. Followed by overnight to Utica NY, I originally bought a ticket to Amsterdam NY, with a two hour layover my brother is picking me up in Utica. Should I inform Amtrak I'm not getting back on?

I've read that when you make a reservation in coach you are assigned a seat. No where on my downloaded ticket do I see a seat assignment. I know when I booked the trip I chose upper level. Will I be assigned a seat when I check in at the terminal?

I have a two night coach ticket, getting on in Longview TX to Chicago. I booked upper level, will I be assigned a seat? I see only lower level seats are available if you book today. I'm assuming all the upper level are sold.

The train I'm on coming up in June, coach seats only have lower level open. Looks like I'll have a companion seated next to me upper level.
