Bi-level Long Distance (LD) fleet replacement RFP discussion H2 2024

This was my take as well. I am not surprised there was this initial delay so far after having discussions with the manufacturers over a very complicated and long term procurement. There are always areas to improve, but thus far, this is not the Acela II rollout.. I also thought the phasing is...

    Phase VII car repaint status

Follow up thought: maybe the red is unique for first class or other elevated service levels. I guess we won't know until we see more of it rolling out. Edit: Answered my own thought, it is going to indicate service by color...

    Phase VII car repaint status

Not in love with the random directions on the white lines. I'd rather have it all be the same direction or more subtle/vertical like the Airo livery is doing. I also didn't expect to see red and I wonder if red will indicate where the doors are (flowing better on amfleet Is for example)? I...

Superliner trains' removal and restoration of cars 2024

According to the board meeting in Seattle yesterday, 23 superliner coaches have or will have this style of restroom.

Airo - Amfleet I replacement Siemens Inter City Trainsets (ICT) (2-3Q 2024)

A whole bunch of updates here including a bunch of Cascades Airo Sets (and locomotives) in progress:

Airo - Amfleet I replacement Siemens Inter City Trainsets (ICT) (2-3Q 2024)

My guess is more room to work with first, then not having it in Boston allows it to be utilized by Keystones and other south of DC services that go up to NYC.

Airo - Amfleet I replacement Siemens Inter City Trainsets (ICT) (2-3Q 2024)

Ehh, I think they'd still be maintained up in Seattle even if they were kept Oregon primarily. They definitely aren't going to build anything specific to Talgos for two remaining sets.

Airo - Amfleet I replacement Siemens Inter City Trainsets (ICT) (2-3Q 2024)

I've heard that rumor float around too, with the potential to keep them in Oregon (since they are ODOT assets) with a cross platform transfer for the runs they are utilized in. Time will tell of course, but it wouldn't hurt to keep them around in some capacity to have more trainsets available...

Airo - Amfleet I replacement Siemens Inter City Trainsets (ICT) (2-3Q 2024)

I imagine we'll see a set or two on site next year for training. I don't think they'll need much testing since they are truly just Venture sets which have already been running for a while. The only significant testing would be the sets with the APVs which will come after. That being said, I'm...

    P42 Phase VII Repaint Status

Yeah the Viewliner Is are definitely in need of some new exterior color. I'd love to see some Phase VII striping and some warmer tones on the inside to match the Veiewliner IIs so they are less clinical. Anyway, to the P42 topic, I got a good shot of 174 and 138 paired up on 11 in Lakewood...

Siemens Caltrans/IDOT Venture design, engineering, testing and delivery (2024)

Correct, test extra and they'll be doing another one today.

Siemens Caltrans/IDOT Venture design, engineering, testing and delivery (2024)

I think the Acela IIs are more mirroring the current Acela's which also don't have cafe tables, and are much more European in nature since those generally follow the same logic as people noted above. I also feel like when Acela II and even the CALIDOT Ventures were being thought up, Amtrak was...

Siemens Caltrans/IDOT Venture design, engineering, testing and delivery (2024)

The Venture cafes have finally started to roll out in Midwest service: https://www.trains.com/trn/news-reviews/news-wire/first-look-midwest-states-venture-coach-cafe-debut/ Certainly an interesting choice to include coach seating in the cafe car, but no tables for anyone to sit and hang out. I'm...

What Will Phase 7 Rolling Stock Look Like?

(Excuse this very quick edit I did, but) I'm guessing something like this:

Very excited to split the cost of sleepers or still use points while earning some more.

Long Distance (LD) fleet replacement RFP discussion H1 2024

This is also due to two things: new passenger information systems are being installed in the new cars first. These need to be completed and tested before the rollout. Once they're good to go, the new cars will finally be rotated in and more older cars will start to go through that process...

    Amtrak Cascades Service discussion

It was broken for some time, they ripped it out, and its getting a new fully enclosed one that is nearing completion. If I remember to grab a pic the next time I'm on Sounder or walk around Holgate, I'll throw it up here.
