    Northeast Corridor elevation profile

Has anyone ever seen an elevation profile of the Northeast Corridor? The whole line is fairly flat, but I'm curious what the highest points are in each state, where the steepest slopes are, etc.

    Amtrak cancellations and delays 2025

I was on the 8:30 Keystone from NYP; after we all board, we sat on the train in Penn Station until 10:10, when it finally was able to leave. They handed out tiny bottles of water so that made everything much better.

Modifying reservation to add a bike

Does anyone know if you can modify an existing reserving reservation to add a bike? This would be a full-sized bike on a NYP-PHL Keystone.

    Amtrak cancellations and delays 2025

Keystone 642 was an hour delayed because a switch froze near Overbrook

    Amtrak website/app issues

If I truly couldn't open the app, the conductor could just look up my name, so I don't think it's important to print the ticket (also I could find the receipt in my emails if need be). But I buy lots of flex tickets I need to cancel/modify, and it gets very annoying for that. Also, when I...

    Amtrak website/app issues

I'm a PHL-NYP commuter (about once a week), and buy my tickets way in advance to get the best price. This means I currently have over 70 tickets reserved (10-trip and monthly are much more expensive). I think as a result of this, the Amtrak app on Android is extremely slow and often crashes...

FY 2025 Ridership Expansion and Fiscal Recovery

Interesting that the Keystone is down, but the Pennsylvanian is (way) up. Keystone is probably down because of track work requiring busing from Lancaster

    Amtrak delays 2023 H2 - 2024

There's a crew repairing the wire today at Frankford Junction, inner northbound track. Train is crawling by on the outer track.

FY 2025 Ridership Expansion and Fiscal Recovery

Is the Keystone subsidized in a way that just accounts for the Philadelphia-Harrisburg segment, or the New York segment as well? I've noticed that Keystone trains are generally cheaper than NE Regional trains between NY and PHL (and faster, too).

Acela 21 (Avelia Liberty) development, testing and deployment (2Q 2024)

I saw the tagged train yesterday morning. I don't know if it was the same train, but the train sitting in the same place was graffiti-clean by 6:30pm that evening.

    Does Amtrak overbook?

I was on a Keystone train yesterday, from NYP-PHL (so the reserved portion), and it was significantly overbooked. I had to stand the whole way, and there were many others standing. There was only one conductor and she didn't help at all (not that there was anything she could do). I texted Amtrak...

    North Portal bridge railfan alert

Is there any plan to keep the old bridge in service as extra rails until funding is available for a second bridge? Or is that pointless as long as the Sawtooth Bridges are limited to two tracks?

    Trenton, NJ

I just stumbled on this, but I needed to respond to say Trenton WAS known for making bridges. The John A. Roebling's Sons Company is most famous for making the Brooklyn Bridge, but also manufactured the steel wire used in bridges across the world, including the Golden Gate Bridge. This is the...
