1,500 bonus points for your business

My business amtrak travel is probably just a few hundred dollars at most/year. Problem is when you go and sign up the minimum they let you select is 5000+ . Anyways can I sign my sole-proprietor business up and add my parents as "employees" ?

Yes. My business "employees" are my family members! As long as you have an EIN (Employer Identification Number) and have at least 3 people you can register, you can sign up your business!

I'm wondering if the members on this forum that are self employed or sole proprieter would be interested in naming some of us as "employees"

since we get our points and it would help your business too! As Dave said, he names his family members, I'm willing to do it, I'm sure others would too long as it's not illegal? Perhaps Alan or the-traveler or one of our legal types have some insight into this?

My business AGR acct (for my actual business) now has over 3,000 points since the beginning of Dec. My employees are the four partners (but am open to others) . We made our Dec business meeting, a RT on the Keystone PHL-PAO, for dinner. You won't get double points per-se, but 25% to 40% base points.

You don't get double points (as nomis said), but assuming 100 points:

• Your personal account earns 100 points
  
• Your business account earns 25 points (There is some level that the % is higher, but I don't know at what level it is)
  

My business account has over 3,500 points! And can be spent as normal!

One of the things that gets me, is that they ask for annual NEC Amtrak spending. A required field, but no place to select zero. Same for the NEC air travel spending.

And if anyone wants to be my employee , just PM me.

Just check the lowest amounts! Usually mine is like $500-$600 (for each of the past few years) - and they haven't said anything!

Heck, anyone can get an EIN. I just got me a EIN and just signed up my family as employees. I don't even have a business at all.
