Is there a minimum travel length for the 100 point minimum?

Could a person get 100 points for a 30 minute, one station, $8.00 fare "trip"?

And if you did that trip during "Double Days" promotion, would you then get 200 points?

And if I understand it all correctly, 100 points during double days = 200 points, but only 100 of those points count towards tier status?

Perhaps this is why 100 point minimum is going away?

Any paid segment counts. I've done RIC-EMY-SFC during a weekend 50% off special. The EMY-SFC bus trip posted with a cost of $1 and received the minimum 100 points. If it was also Double Days that would have doubled too if under the two per day maximum.

There were people talking about the AU Gathering in the San Francisco Bay Area last year. Apparently a bunch of AU members were doing Berkeley-Emeryville and Emeryville-Oakland Jack London (possibly as multi-city) points run to get 100 points. $7.50 right now (might have been cheaper then as well as AAA discount) and it's literally less than 2 miles. The schedule say 6 minutes, but I think it's less than that. Literally one would have to track down a conductor at the door to get the ticket lifted.

That was also the infamous "hole" where a lot of AGR transactions during a certain time period didn't seem to post, although they started posting for trips after the "hole". There were jokes going around that this mass points run broke the system. However, it took a while but they all seemed to post within a few weeks.

This is my last Double Days, Using the Keystones I did many point runs, usually from ELT to HAR or LNC. 450 points(with select) for a 15 to 20 minute trip. The points accumulated rapidly and I have been able to make many long distance roomette trips using points, Always trying to save a buck, later this week I'll be doing a ELT-HAR R/T. later that day taking Megabus from Harrisburg to Boston for $2, then the Downeaster from North Station to go to Haverhill, then on to Portland, Megabus back to Boston, then PHL, then PHL-PAO R/T and Megabus back to Harrisburg. Three day trip 1350 points. Yes, I know I;m "gaming" the system. Many people have done it. . Two overnights on the bus, but being semi retired without a whole lot of disposable income. I enjoy it.

It all comes to an end in January. What is now 250 points(non double days) will soon be 32. It's been a great run. Oh, I'll still be riding Amtrak, but after next year I don't think I'll be taking too many cross country trips in a sleeper.
