I have the freebie Bank of America Platinum Master card and have accumulated points while using it. Could I get the other one, the World Master Card ($79/yr) as well and have those 20K bonus points go onto the same AGR account? Or would something like this be forbidden? I don't need the 20k points now but was wondering if I ever did need points if getting the other card would be an option.

Thanks!

Not sure, but the word going around among the point / miles experts is that the banks are cracking down with lifetime limit on bonus points. Too many people have been gaming the system so the banks are changing the rules.

AGR aside, I would think it would be a BofA (credit) decision regarding issuing a second credit card to you. If they would, it would be for the AGR member number you put on the application. If you do get the second card, you might as well put the first card aside. The $79 per year card, beyond the 20k bonus will give a few more benefits.

I ended up getting two World Card accounts. I was first turned down when I applied online due, I guess, to a glitch in BofA's system. While on an Amtrak trip, ironically, I called BofA directly and was approved. When I got home I found out I had gotten approved for the first card after all! I was gone for 10 days or so and of course had gotten no mail in that time. So I ended up with two accounts and got 40,000 points.

That said, as Frensic said I would think it would be a decision for BofA to make.

I have both the Platinum and World Mastercards. Both are linked to the same AGR account, and I got the intro bonuses for both of them, for a total of 32K free points.
