Looking like the best price to get me to the Gathering will be American Airlines from Hawaii. I havent flown them in a long time so am wondering if there is a code share and I can get points on Amtrak.

Right now the choice is AA to Chicago LSl to Boston and back returning to HNL on AA. this will cost 845.

The other is UA to Chicago, the LSL to Boston and UA back to HNL. I am in the UA mailage program. This route will cost 907.

Any pro's favor one or the other?

AA - not that I know of! :(

UA - yes (in a way)! Maybe!

On 10/27/09, CO is joining *A. UA is part of *A. I believe after that date, you can credit your mileage on UA to CO! CO transfers to AGR at 1:1! :D

So if your outbound flight is on 10/25-27, yes to UA! :)

EDIT: From the CO OnePass website:

If you travel on a Star Alliance airline (UA) on Oct. 25 or Oct. 26, we will make every effort to ensure you automatically receive OnePass mileage credit (including Elite Qualification Miles/Points) and eligible customers receive lounge access. Please save copies of your travel documents for Oct. 25 and Oct. 26 — eTicket receipts and original boarding passes — until mileage credit is confirmed on your OnePass statement.

Think the traveler is correct about Continental Eric! I dont know UA anymore, quit flying them in the early 90s. AA was always a good ride for me, I belonged for years to their frequent flyer club and flew all over the world, but in this age of diminished services (no meals/$$ for bags etc.)Id say that its your choice; Go for the transferable points to AGR if the fare isnt far off, take the cheapest fare if thats what is best for you! I know you know its a long ride, and youve done it often, convience of schedule and comfort might apply too! Aloha, hope to meet you in person some day! :) (my last trip to Hawaii was on Continental from Houston and it was a good experience!!)
