First, they cancel ONE of our four trains (return from ABQ to CHI) on our March trip with no explanation. This is to visit where we got married 50 years ago this year. They sent me a notification on my phone with no explanation. So I click on the link and it brings up the app which says the same thing and still no explanation. So I call them and wait on the Select line for 2 hours (they said 30 minutes) to talk to a rep. While waiting, I looked and found the next day's train canceled but two days later, there were rooms available at double the cost. That's the first bad news.

Well the rep was absolutely wonderful. We are now booked two days later so we have two more days in NM. Moreover, for this special trip, we had booked a deluxe bedroom and she found a pair of rooms for us so we still have it. She had to rebook our follow-on Cardinal trip and managed to find us the two roomettes across from each other like we had originally booked. Moreover, it is not costing us a dime more! she booked it at the original price. She told us the Chief is running only five days a week. I got her name so I can praise her to Amtrak. That was the good news.

So I go on the web site and fill out the employee compliment form spending a lot of time explaining why I thought she was so good then hit enter. Amtrak did it again! The sight gave me an error message that the form could not be sent and cleared out everything I typed in. THEY ARE SO DUMB! How to they manage to be so stupid and hire people so good at what they do? The second bad news.

I did find a site that gave me an email to contact Amtrak so I did so telling them what I thought of the wonderful employee and what I thought of the people running IT and the company. I hope it went through because I wanted to end the day on a happy note thinking about that fine woman that helped us and not angry with the idiots on top.

Thank you for doing this. :) I wish more people did.

Also, I've encountered those errors with other websites, and it's so irritating to lose all of your writing. Several years ago, I started writing everything in a Word doc, and then I copy/paste over to the website. That way, if I lose it, I don't have to write it all over again.

I do that also; either that, or I copy what I wrote from the web input form into a Word doc before pushing "send." Saves a lot of teeth grinding.
