I kind of like it too, but you know that any paint job like that would have Amtrak foes screaming about a "gold-plated railroad." Besides, we normally get the green-and-white Cascades color scheme, which is also pretty nice. You know, the black and gold paint job actually looks really nice. I'm going to dare say that I like it a bit more than the usual red/white/blue jobs Amtrak uses.
True. Too bad nobody is in a position to sell the FEC on it.I kind of like it too, but you know that any paint job like that would have Amtrak foes screaming about a "gold-plated railroad." It's standard. Google the photos of F59-PHI locomotives.I've been meaning to ask...is that cowcatcher/snowplow thing on the front of the loco standard equipment that I've just never noticed before without the gold paint job? Or is it new?
Geez I never noticed it either until the gold paint, and that is my typical engine. Well actually I don't see it that much since pulling into SOL and VNC in my boarding direction it is cab-forward, but I have never seen that... I did google it and I am surprised that that is typical. It's standard. Thanks, you're right. But in the standard Cascades color scheme it's sort of brown, so I guess that's why I didn't notice it. Here's a photo I found from here of 470 before its "Tut job."It's standard. Actually it is almost universally typical of locomotives to have some type of snowplow on it.Geez I never noticed it either until the gold paint, and that is my typical engine.
