I'll still stick to base sleepers until at least next March.
Not implying in any way that you should do otherwise. I’d probably do the same out west at the moment.

Find the conductor and ask about it … nicely. Though it might be occupied up the line.i walked passed my rooms and they are totally empty both A and B. So now I'm kinda pissed.
So i talked to the lady in 9811 and said 3 people got the room over me because im a single person.. 3 people seems tight in those bedrooms.
Did three people get the one room or did they get A and B put together as a Suite? So i talked to the lady in 9811 and said 3 people got the room over me because im a single person.. 3 people seems tight in those bedrooms.

Ya it is a viewliner with a toliet.. seems kinda cramped.. might try to sleep on top for a change.I agree—it does seem tight to me, too. And I do wish Amtrak would stop playing musical chairs with people’s accommodations. At least you did get an explanation.
Is your roomette a new one or the old one? At least the Viewliner roomettes are a bit roomier and less claustrophobic than the Superliner ones.
Really? If he booked a bedroom they should not have moved him just to accommodate others. So 6 passengers accommodated and you still got a roomette.. I don’t know what happened but that seems like a good decision was made.
If he had a confirmed, paid, reservation for it, as it appears he did, it should have been his with the space showing as booked. So 6 passengers accommodated and you still got a roomette.. I don’t know what happened but that seems like a good decision was made.

Period.
It’s not a good decision if the decision was made unilaterally, which appears to be the case. Amtrak should have reached out, explained the situation and given him a choice. So 6 passengers accommodated and you still got a roomette.. While I completely agree with the sentiment expressed, I would also note that airlines do change assigned/selected seats all the time for various reasons, including accommodating seating parents with children etc. At least on the airlines that I frequent you do get notified when the change happens and you always have an opportunity to go in and select another seat, different from the one assigned provided you have appropriate status/fare class that allows seat selection. Not all fares/status do.I tend to agree unless there was a legitimate situation related to accommodating someone or some group (like someone with a disability or unique family situation) - and the proper way to handle that would be to contact the person with the reservation, explain the situation, and ask if they’d be amenable to a room swap. Some people might be amenable to switching if the situation is explained and the individual consulted - I certainly would. But just doing it without any sort of contact isn’t really good customer service - I’d encourage you to fill out the RPA survey or contact someone there.
Depending on the weather here in DE, I may go out to catch you going through Newark, DE (this is about 6-10 mins before you reach Wilmington, DE). Right now lots of rain here, but it may clear up some by the time 98 gets here.I got my refund back and only paid the roomette fee. I'll take a look at the survey. Thanks for the link. Looks like my late 98 should make 49 in NYP..
thanks all for comments and replies.
But i do agree, if they called me and said something to me before they changed that would have be nice but i wouldn't have not have expected it.
My train didn't get hit ny the PTC issue. We will how 49 goes lol.
Just hitting Washington DC.
Yesterday's 49 out of New York is arriving in Chicago 39 mins ahead of schedule today! My train didn't get hit ny the PTC issue. We will how 49 goes lol.

it would be nice. I'm suppose to catch a metra train in Chi to head home at 1030.Yesterday's 49 out of New York is arriving in Chicago 39 mins ahead of schedule today!
That was my guess as a significant possibility all along, as I mentioned before. I did not think 4811 had been removed for a moment. Everything to me indicated that the issue was with the room, not the car.I had it wrong. It was a family that did A and B in 9811.. so it was a suite.
Yeah but most of the short haul out of Chicago is still not available today. Long haul is showing delays.Yesterday's 49 out of New York is arriving in Chicago 39 mins ahead of schedule today!
