Hi,

I wonder if someone can advise me please?

I just want to preempt this call for assistance by saying that I will have great difficulty telephoning the Amtrak office, due to time zones, and would love to resolve this by email if possible, so part of my question is wondering it Amtrak reliably answer their email enquiries?

Yesterday I booked 3 tickets from Seattle to Vancouver. The site produced a reservation number and explained that a pdf ticket would be emailed to me which I should then print, on white paper, and present to the ticket inspector. I supplied two different emails and to both of these I received the same email saying this is not a ticket and a pdf ticket will be sent to your email, but no pdf ticket was sent. I checked the trash on both of the emails and it didn't go there either.

The system just seems to have generated the initial email.

So I'm submitted this question online but am just wondering how long Amtrak take to reply, or if in fact they do. Just that we're leaving for the states next week and I wanted to print them and get it sorted before hand.

cheers

The eticket should normally be emailed within a couple hours.

Amtrak's call center is open 24/7, so time zone differences shouldn't make a difference. i'd call them if I were you, you'll get it resolved in minutes. The email doesn't go to reservations, my experience is they take a bit to answer, so it is probably significantly more time consuming to try to resolve it via email. A reservations agent, in contrast, can generate the correct email at the touch of a button (same thing happened to me recently). Amtrak doesn't appear to publish a non 800 number, so you'd probably need to use Skype as 800 numbers can't be dialed internationally via regular international phone service.

800-872-7245. Ask for "agent" when the automated system (Julie) answers.

Don't panic if you don't get it resolved, however, you can print your eTicket at the QuikTrak kiosk at King Street Station in Seattle, or have an agent print it for you at the ticket counter there.

Thank you so much for your help.

Both of your solutions make me feel better; I'll try to Skype and then if all else fails I can go to the ticket counter in Seattle.

Thanks again.

If you bought your ticket off the Amtrak website, you should be able to go back to the website, login, and pull up the reservation in the "My Account" area. I beleive that an option there is to resend the PDF e-ticket.

This. Good luck.

Thank you so much everyone. What a great forum.

I set up a Skype account when I got home from work (very exciting, note to self- must get out more!)

I got through with no trouble at all and the lovely lady sent it through "at the touch of a button" as suggested by zephyr17

Thanks again everyone.

Just reading your original post make me think that you thought you were contacting Amtrak itself. Although the name of this website, Amtrak Unlimited (or AU for short) has the word Amtrak in it, AU is NOT affiliated with Amtrak in any way! There may be some members of AU who do actually work for Amtrak, 99% of members do not. We provide information to assist the traveling public enjoy traveling by rail. Any "advice" we give is hopefully helpful, but is not at all official.

My career with Amtrak has included such tasks as ice collection, bed making, and restroom cleaning. Unfortunately I'm still waiting for my first paycheck decades later. ;)
:D
(It's in the mail)

No, I didn't think I was contacting an official Amtrak forum.

But it really is a great forum- very upbeat!
