Alright nmrxabqfan101,

First of all, telling "us railfans" and calling us "foamers" is kinda interesting. Even if we are. You actually have "fan" in your user name.

Anyway, you are getting better at posting. They are getting easier to read and seem far less rambling. Doing this at 3 AM shows you have a passion, and that is appreciated.

Your rebuttal to the donation clause was perhaps the best argument you have given yet, but as Ryan said, please provide any sort of links and references you can when citing statistics.

Finally, who do YOU think is keeping any decision from being made? Is Martinez willing to just give up the SWC completely?

as a side note.. how fast do freight trains run on the Transcon? and wasn't BNSF gonna cover Amtrak re-routing? Or did I just hear someone say that and have assumed it to be true. Certainly there would still be costs for Amtrak to re-route, new stations etc. but extending sidings and re-timing grade crossing signals sounds silly when talking about the Transcon..

Amtrak would probably still see a 10 MPH over most freight. But on a line that is so congested, NOBODY may make it up to their speed limits. That being said, they seem to do OK so far on the Transcon West of Belen, so they might still be able to leap frog for a longer distance.

MODS: Since this topic is becoming synonomous with the other thread, can you please either a) lock this one, or b) merge the two?

Thanks
