Amtrak to Metroliink

I want to arrive via Amtrak in St. Louis and get to Belleville, Illinois for a funeral on Thursday. How far from the Amtrak is the Metrolink? I would struggle with luggage, so I'm looking for the easiest connections. Is it possible to rent a car out of the Amtrak station?

There is a Metrolink station right there in St Louis Amtrak station.

It should be noted that the train in St. Louis is spelled MetroLink and the train in Southern California is spelled Metrolink

The easiest and fastest connection is MetroLink, which is located approximately 100 feet from the Gateway Station's entrance, and either line will take you to downtown Belleville. If the walk in Belleville would be too cumbersome, Budget Rentals also operates out of Gateway Station.
