Every time I try to connect using my android mobile app on the Galaxy s5. I have deleted and reinstalled the app but nothing helps, I get a message that there was "an error" connecting to Amtrak. I cannot get an answer from tech support (I travel 3x a week so I would like to think they care but I'm not sure). Is anyone else having this problem

I'm having a bit of a problem following what you are saying; but are you sure it's not saying that you are not connected, either by cellular or wi-fi?

life can exist without overpriced Apple technology

which is ironic because in 1984 I was chairman of one of the Anti-IBM Underground User Groups (if you say it right it is AIBMUGO) expressing the same concern about what we called "Big Blue)

funny how the worm turns

Overpriced is in the eye of the beholder. My Apple gear is worth every penny paid for it.
Likewise. You get what you pay for, and in my reckoning what I get in an iPhone 6+ is worth the money I paid for it. Of course individual tastes and considerations might differ.
BTW, government starting to accept Applepay is going to be huge! OTOH, I am still looking forward to the Rube Goldberg scheme using barcodes that CVS and Walmart are concocting, just for laughs. Another so called open standard driven by a few giant companies gone berserk. :p Just gives standards a bad name, which is unfortunate, since afterall I participate in several open standards consortia (including as a BoD member of one), and also participated in a ISO/IEC JTC1 subcommittee US mirror ANSI committee.

apple is not that much .... try the $1800 FX‑X1 :)

I have a SGS3 and its good with the amtrak app . I am on a AM-BUS right now at PDX southbound thanks to it .

my Only gripe is I wish you could just type in the station code in the app and not have to seach for it first

I know my usial routes so well I dont need a serch .

I've picked up several Apple devices over the years. Various flavors of iPods, iPhones, iPad's, Macbooks, and even an ATV for good measure. I'd say about half of them were a decent value and the other half were a bit of a waste honestly.
