I'm wondering if there are USPS drop boxes in Amtrak stations, especially for the smoking stops on Empire Builder. I'd like to send a postcard en route.

I'm not sure about the EB, but almost every staffed station (and several non-staffed stations with actual buildings) have USPS boxes in close proximity.

Spokane also appears to have one out front per Google streetview, the guy in the white t-shirt is in the way. Why yes I am bored and stuck at work...

edit for spelling

Last week when I rode the EB, I noticed a mailbox on the Havre platform, to the left as you're facing the station from trainside. When I was at the Seattle station, I had to walk about a block and a half to find a mailbox up near a Starbucks. If there was a mailbox in the station or right out front, I managed to miss it.

Speaking of postcards, I wish Amtrak would sell route-specific postcards. I usually end up buying two or three sets just so I can send cards featuring the train I'm riding.

I took the CS in summer 2008 and got baggage tags from Los Angeles with nice route scenery. There were EB, CS, CZ, SC, etc. I don't know if Amtrak still has such tags or not.

Thanks. I'll try that.

I know that Harve, MT station has a steam loco on the platform. Is there a gift shop nearby?
