Anyone ever let a ticket expire accidentally?

Recently, I found an old ticket in some things I was going through. It was issued in Aril, 2008 so it has been more than a year since issue. Ido feel a little better that it was only worth around $10. Live and learn...

Looks like someone just got a new bookmark  . at least it wasn't to expensive.

I had a ticket for a Shuttle from New Haven to Hartford that I never used. Didn't have to do another trip til it expired. Oops.

I've had a couple. They've usually been tix that weren't pulled like when the Surfliner is three hours late coming home at night. They end up on my mess of a desk and aren't seen again. Only about $7, so not too much of a loss (well, and the points)

After my first Amtrak trip, back in Fall '97, I was anxious to take the train again. I bought a roundtrip ticket from KCY to KWD for a Family gathering at Christmas '97... but plans changed and I didn't get to use it. At the time, I was under the impression that the ticket was worthless after the train departed, so it expired without being exchanged for another future ride.

A $7 loss is not bad, but that $7 ticket is worth 100 AGR points!
Yeah, a fairly big point loss - and for a ride I really took!

I'm not used to actually having tickets since I pick them up at Quiktrak and use them immediately.

The few times they haven't been pulled I've thought that I'll just use them later,; sometimes I forget.

Though I have handed tix to staff as leaving the train on double point runs that they wouldn't have pulled.

Apparently I was:

A) Really Lucky

B) Had a great agent

C) Was Misinformed over Amtrak Policy

I brought my expired ticket to the station and was able to apply it toward a future trip. The agent said the year limit was for refunds only and said that there was a theoretical limit for exchanges too, but he didn't know what it was.

I found over $70 worth of tickets that were set to expire soon and about $80 of those NEC "sale fare" tickets that are non-refundable but exchangeable!   Thanks for the reminder to look for them! :D

This calls for a trip soon - so I can use the value! :p

I just turned in $169.30 worth of unused and "non-refundable but exchangeable" tickets that I have found - thanks to this reminder! :) I used it for a round trip AE ticket, which will (almost) push me over the edge for Select! (I'll be 70 points short! )

This calls for another trip to nowhere! :p

Well Im sure that youll come up with something but knowing you it will probably be a day trip to BOS via CHI!!! Remember Double points expire Dec. 19th and the AGR Blackout starts the 14th so guess all of us better get busy with point runs unless youre lucky enough to Select +!! :)

Because I just need 70 points, it may just be a short ride to KIN-PVD one way (for 100 points :D ) and I'll take a city bus back to the station! :p Or I may "force myself" to take a round trip to BOS and get 200 points - doubled! :D
