FIRE DELAYS BART SERVICE: An electrical fire temporarily closed BART's Transbay Tube Sunday afternoon and later was causing major delays for train riders traveling under the Bay between Oakland and San Francisco.

BART officials said they expect full train service to be restored some time tonight.

The brief fire broke out on tracks near the Oakland end of the Transbay Tube about 1:50 p.m., causing smoke and damaging electrical cables and equipment, the transit agency reported.
