Daughter #2 is taking the Empire Builder from Milwaukee to St. Paul later this month - coach. Which section will she be seated in - Seattle or Portland?
The extra coach only runs in the summer months, if then.Depending on number passengers it might not be either one. May be rear coach that is cut off coach going CHI - MSP
Thanks! She's traveling all over the Midwest doing interviews for an internship. She only has 24 hours in St. Paul. Also, an early welcome to MSP for her! If ideas are wanted for things to do in the area, I'd be happy to give suggestions.
So she's not willing to simply avoid a specific airline or airport or aircraft but intends to never fly again? Barely internship age and already vowing never to do basic everyday tasks ever again. Seems like running away from problems would be a bad precedent to set this early in life. Hopefully this is nothing more than emotion driven hyperbole. If not what will she do after she has another bad experience and vows to never ride another train again? The day before yesterday, she flew from Fort Wayne to STL (with a 2 hour layover in Chicago). She was disgusted by the whole experience of flying, and vowed to never, ever, do it again if avoidable.
The if avoidable part is the important here - she's not saying never again - just never again if there is a possible alternative.

No way to tell in advance.Either is good. train not crowded this time of year. Walk to SSL plenty room. Not to worryDaughter #2 is taking the Empire Builder from Milwaukee to St. Paul later this month - coach. Which section will she be seated in - Seattle or Portland?
When did they re-route the Eagle through Kansas City George?
Might she be riding the SWC from CHI-KCY,or a Lincoln Train to STL and then a River Runner to KCY??
They do not run this coach anymore. It stopped when the MSP station switched from Midway to St Paul Union Depot. There is no way to switch it off anymore.Depending on number passengers it might not be either one. May be rear coach that is cut off coach going CHI - MSP
This must be a tongue-in-cheek remark because there is now only 1 platform flanked by 2 sidings plus a short spur track at SPUD. Or perhaps you were thinking of the previous station? This is what the area looked like 50 years ago:They have all those sidings and platforms at SPUD.
