11(1) and 14(1) are being turned at Klamath Falls and Sacramento respectively and passengers returned to their points of origin. It was due to a freight train carrying lithium batteries catching fire around Chico and closing the line.
This appears to be a "new normal" with unexpected line closures, also having been the case with the Southwest Chief a couple times in the last few months. At least this time Amtrak expressly said they tried to get buses this time, but couldn't.
No detour over the Inside Gateway, do not know if they tried for it.
11(2) and 14(2) are cancelled without alternate transportation between SEA and EMY. I imagine passengers between SEA and EUG can rebook on Cascades service themselves.
