I am very confused, how is this ran? Does Amtrak set aside one car for this? Are regular passengers aware?

There is room here for a joke about most Amtrak train trips being a comedy of failings, but maybe that would be hitting Amtrak below the belt...

I would assume the event organizers are "renting" a car specifically for their patrons or they just bought all the seats in one car between those two stops before they went on sale to the general public.

Oh trust me, Comedy hours in the lounge exist! It’s a rotating cast and some are better than others but if you hang out in the lounge long enough you’ll be entertained!

I saw one passenger on 7 who was so intoxicated by the view and large windows in sightseer lounge that he started twerking (rubbing his rear end) on the window. I decided to continue walking to sit it in the coach next to the diner for first call for dinner.

Actually, while not on the same trip, the "party train" I took to the Bay was rather tame.
