Taking 14 to PDX in August. Connecting there to 28. How reliable is the connection to 28 ?

What happens if 14 is real late?

EDIT: Changed 8 to 28 leaving PDX. First post was completely wrong. My sincerest apologies to the users here.

I think you mean 28, 8 runs from SEA and 9 doesn't exist
I have it on good authority that train 9 is a special commissioned for and used exclusively by the_traveler.

But don't tell anyone.

In general it's a lot more reliable now than in the past. You'd probably be fine 95 times out of 100.

There's some good padding coming into PDX on the 14, plus the 75 minute layover time. But you

just never know until the day of travel.

I have made this connection a few times in the past. Once they held #28 for a few minutes & once I was bussed to Spokane. Obviously the train is much nicer than the bus!!! :hi: The connecting time always seems to be a nail biter! BTW I'll be making this connection (hopefully) on Aug 18!

Have Fun

Correct!
I have 28 held for a short time in PDX, and once when 14 was delayed crossing the Cascades they ran 14 making all the stops, but bussed all connecting passengers between Albany, OR and PDX. (The busses arrived, the passengers got on 28 and off it went. 14 got to PDX about 30 minutes after that.)

Very seldom do they bus you to Pasco or Spokane, like they did in the bad old days.

I also corrected the thread's title, so it's less confusing.

We will be on it on Aug. 17th. Leave LA on the 16th.

Thanks for the corrections. :)

Do they do a bustitution from Klamath Falls anymore? Regardless, I prefer and hope to get a complete train route from FUL to MSP in early July!
