ON Line: amtrak.com *fill in the blanks, follow the directions*

On phone: 1-800-USA Rail *when "Julie " answers, say Agent, talk with the agent for info!

Tip: Join Amtark Guest Rewards/use AGR Master Card from Chase(the traveler or I :D would be glad to refer you

if youd like!!)and book early as possible!!!(the sooner the cheaper!!)Look on the Amtrak web site to learn about

the various accomidations available on a Viewliner train(Eastern US) as opposed to a Superliner!basically you are talking

about the Silver Star from New York,Sprinfield to NYP is a seperate train, perhaps you might want to go to Boston and

change if its a matter of time, get a Time Table and look up the options/also has good info about Amtrak!!!Welcome!

Also remember that a sleeper whether for 1 or 2 is the same price once each of yall pay the basic rail fare and

this includes all meals in the diner,a good deal!!

Comeon Jim, you know the Traveler gets point posting priority at AGR! If he does the referring, the rest of us are going to have to wait all that much longer before we get to have our points posted!

Diane,

Prices for Amtrak tickets vary depending on the date you need to travel. Basically as the train fills up, the prices go up. So quoting prices to you is a futile exercise, not to mention frowned upon by Amtrak. The price of a one way ticket could easily range from a low of $120 to a high of around $270. Note that range is actually from NY City to Orlando, so figure on your tickets costing a few dollars more.

If you can be flexible in your travel dates, you may well be able to secure tickets in the low end of the price range. If your dates aren't flexible, then you will have to pay whatever the going rate is. However, the best advice is to book as soon as possible, as again prices will only go up.

Regarding travel time, you'll be on a train for about 28 hours. You'll also have to transfer trains either in NY or DC, and even possibly in New Haven depending on which train you choose, so that will add to the overall travel time.

If you want to further investigate your options and prices, then head over to Amtrak. Enter SPG as the code for your departing station, that's Springfield, and then enter ORL for the arriving station. Pick your dates of travel, and you should know that there is both a morning and late afternoon train to Florida, so you may wish to check both a morning departure time and an afternoon departure time.

Prices do vary by train, so it would be prudent to check both for the best price.
