On Wednesday, I took two of my good friends along with me from Seattle to Vancouver and return. This was there first trip on Amtrak so they were somewhat apprehensive because they had heard that Amtrak is never on time. However, since I'm the "travel guru" of the group they had faith in me. So anyway we arrived at Seattle 40 minutes before arrival. We went to the kiosk and got our tickets. However, one of my friends was unable to print his ticket because email printout was to small, so he had to go speak with an agent. Shortly thereafter we got our seat assignments and boarded the train. We were able to get the four seats that face each other (same for the return except with the table). The trip up to Vancouver was fairly uneventful and we played cards for most of the journey. We finally arrived in Vancouver only about 20 minutes late. For the next fours we walked around downtown and had lunch in Chinatown. We returned to the station about one and 20 minutes before departure and went through customs and proceeded to wait for departure aboard the train. The return trip was also fairly uneventful and despite being about 20 minutes late we arrived in Seattle on time. All in all it was a good trip and they said they we should it again and make it a longer trip. (Seattle to San Francisco was mentioned)

Nice day trip! :) Maybe they would be interested in going back to Vancouver, go over to Vancouver Island and ride the train up the Island, you too if you havent done it but living in Seattle Im thinking you have! ;)

I actually have not taken the dayliner, but I already have a trip booked for this month actually.

A much better trip is the BC Rail route to Whistler, Quesnel and Prince George. I took this when BC Rail ran their RDC's and it is truly spectacular. It's a little more expensive now that Rocky Mountaineer has taken over the route but really worth it.

:hi: Good find henry! A little pricey for the gold rush trip but the day trip to Whistler sound pretty good and also that's Canadian $$$ which sometimes work out in our favor!
