I was exploring the possibilities of visiting the island of Sylt in Germany and I found an interesting operation.
The Island has no road connection to the mainland but it has plenty of cars, and roads. Deutsche Bahn operates several auto trains a day to bring people and their cars to the island for 100 USD Round Trip. The ride takes about 46 minutes but instead of riding in a coach you ride in your car on the auto rack. After you load your car onto the train you remain in your car till you drive it off. Imagine if we could do something like this in the United States how much ridership it might draw.
