My son just got what looks like a targeted offer of double points this spring to get him back on a train (he hasn't ridden since last July). I haven't received that email with that promotion so I think it may be targeted. Anyone else?

Double points are offered every spring as a part of NTD. Once NTD comes Triple points are offered. What's the date of the offer starting?? If it's around March 19th then no it's not a targeted offer AGR is starting to offer the Double points to it's members.

Not quite (but almost) true! One year they had 2 for 1 tickets for travel in NTD alone!

I'd bet that it's a targeted offer; Amtrak does that when someone hasn't taken a trip in a while.

Speaking of targeted offers, I wondered if this is one:

I am using up my companion coupons from last year before they expire by taking two 'companion coupon' trips before the end of the month by going on NERs WAS to NYP r/t. I had registerd for the 'Acela Great Escape' offer even though I knew I wasn't going to be able to take advantage of it, but after I booked my NER trips I happened upon a 'Great Escape' offer in 'My Promotions' that will get me a free r/t on the NERs when I take 2 r/ts that have a minimum fare of $49.00 e/w. (what I paid) So now I'm getting a free r/t this summer for my companion trips :excl: :cool: I'm certainly not complaining, but I did wonder if this is targeted.

I got the offer. I did not know until I opened my e-mail to get the confirmation for the ticket I just bought. :D

It has been about 9 months, so I had booked a day trip. I registered for the promotion, so hopefully I get the double points.
