Driver Survives Two Car-Train Crashes
(KUTV) The first crash---car into train---looked bad enough. The second crash---train into the same car---may have been worse. But remarkably, a woman driver of the vehicle is alive and reasonably well.
“She just hit the train!” was the radio dispatch Sunday morning from a Woods Cross police officer. A cloud kicked up from the point of impact, and the crumpled car stayed on the tracks.
The officer hurried to the vehicle, tried to break a window to get to the driver, but in less than a minute, a horn blared from a second train---and then another locomotive plowed into the car.
“As officers were attempting to get her out of the car, another southbound train struck the vehicle,” said Detective Adam Osoro. “It just couldn’t stop in time. It was too close to this (first) incident.”...
“She’s a 29 year old female,” said Osoro. “She was transported by ambulance to University of Utah hospital, where she has non-life threatening injuries. The information we’ve obtained from the hospital so far is that she just has a broken arm.”
