Will be boarding the EB in St Paul tomorrow which is supposed to depart at 7:50 AM. I assume they will still be serving breakfast then, however as it says now, the train will be departing late at approximatly 9:20 AM. Are they typically done serving breakfast by that time and we are just out of luck? Of coarse that will get the train into Chicago at approximatly 5:30PM. If late enough, will they supper? We are in a roomette so have meals coming. Thanks.

Normally, they serve breakfast until 9 am. And usually they finish lunch service before CBS (Columbus), normally there is no dinner service into CHI.
Meals are generally served by time, not location. If really late, they may stop lunch before Columbus since that would be after normal lunch hours. They might do an extended lunch on a late train, though, since there is no dinner service.

They don't do a normal dinner service at all going into Chicago. Although if the train is super late, they might do the general "emergency" supper for all pax. In days past, that is when they break out the Dinty Moore. Heard they do something else now for emergency rations.

Actually the last seating for Breakfast is supposed to be 10AM. This is not to say that some crews won't end it early.

As for getting Dinner on the train, the train would have to be targeted for a 7 PM or later arrival, before they'd start thinking of serving dinner. My guess is that arrival into Milwaukee would have to be at 5:30 PM or later, before the crew would setup to do an abbreviated dinner into Chicago.

The biggest problem here, in my opinion, would be whether the crew had enough advance information on how late they're running to make sure they get enough "food" onboard ahead of time to provide a late dinner before arriving in CHI. Usually they do, but, if not, you're SOL...
