Fire trucks not being able to make to the scene + airdrop water to put fires out = don't think this one is getting cleaned up quickly
Only Hulcher crawlers might get there? Or is the soil so moist that almost nothing can traverse? Maybe it is as bad as Ukraine?

So, based on what I see on Amtrak Track Your Train Map the EB 7 that left Chicago yesterday is well past where the fire location is/was. It recently crossed into Montana from North Dakota. So I guess the track is passable again. The EB 8 is approaching Shelby, which is where the previous train was supposedly held up at. Or does the Amtrak tracking site not really show accurate data?

Joined this discussion after the disruption... but it seems that EB in both direction is running ok and on time.

Have they ever just cancelled mid-route and put people on next days train when it gets there?
Amtrak has done this in the past. I was on an eastbound Empire Builder which got snowbound during a February blizzard. They turned the train in Minot after taking all passengers to a motel. Amtrak notified us when transportation back to the station would be available the following evening and we boarded the next train and continued our journey.

This train has had the worst luck lately! Another cancellation between Whitefish and Spokane on 5/2. Although this time, the Amtrak Alert tweet was pretty odd, suggesting that 8/28 would be detouring.
